How To Make and Apply: Copper Plating

Apply this formula to Iron & Steel to create a copper plated surface that you may patina.

  1. Clean the iron or steel with our Metal Cleaner.  Leave cleaner on surface of the metal for 3 -4 minutes and wipe off with a clean rag.
  2. Spray on the Cupric Sulfate Solution and let it sit on the surface for 2 minutes and wipe off with a clean rag.
  3. Wipe surface with Acetone- get in all the recesses or a white chalky film will form.
  4. Seal surface with Permalac- NOTE:  If your wanting to patina the newly plated surface DO NOT seal at this point.
  5. Apply the patina
  6. Seal if necessary.
